What stresses me out? How do I react? Do other people really function differently than I do? What do I do if I have a conflict with a person from another culture? Going to MAC helped me answer these questions and more. In order to be able to serve people from another culture the best we can, we first need to have an understanding of how we ourselves work as individuals and as members of our home culture. Then we need to realize that not everyone is like us and that different is just different, and not necessarily wrong. We need to be incarnational in our ministry and not imperialistic. So much depends on how we approach and react to situations. When you go to MAC you'll learn about red-lining and green-lining. If you on the green line, you're open, willing to learn and able to respond with grace. But, if you're red lining and can let yourself see past your own nose, things will be a lot more difficult. I have both green-lined and red-lined here in Costa Rica and I will tell you from my own experience that red-lining complicates the situation for everyone (ie sucks) and life is much better when I'm on the green. Head for the green line, go to MAC in 2010!
